What’s included?

When you join Balance, you get access to nearly all of our training sessions for free, including member-led cycling sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a coached run squad on Wednesdays (Monday evening swim squad and Friday morning social swims are paid on entry to the pool). Additionally, there are many member-led weekend sessions, and the club subsidizes various social and sporting events throughout the year.

Swim Squad (September-April)

This is a coached swim session.

When: Mondays @ 7pm (please be on pool deck at least 10 mins early).

Location: Leichhardt Aquatic Centre (LPAC).
Cost: This depends on whether you are a member of LPAC, buy a single entry ticket or multi-pass (10, 20 or 50 pass), have a concession card, etc. The most expensive option is a single entry, which at time of writing was $18. This is payable at the front desk on arrival.
Equipment: All you really need is your cossie and a pair of good fitting goggles.  However, the squad sets often make use of a selection of swim equipment including pull buoy, paddles, fins,  and swim snorkel.
Skill Level: We have two lanes catering for and there is always a wide variety of fitness, ability and speed levels.  However, if swimming 300m continuous freestyle is challenging for you, this squad may not be the best use of your time initially. Talk to us about how we help get you ready to join the squad. 


Group Cycling Sets

We hold group cycling sessions twice a week. These sessions primarily focus on strength and speed aspects of cycling.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays morning @ 5:45am.

Location: We meet at the Concord West Train Station car park, with rides conducted around Sydney Olympic Park.
Cost: Free.
Equipment: Bike in good working order, helmet, front and rear lights, spares and repairs kit.
Skill Level: Members lead 3 cycling groups to cater for the various skill levels across the club. Please note that this is a member-led (not a coached) session, and whilst we always look after each other, participants are expected to be self sufficient.
Safety Requirements:  Participants must attend a Balance bike induction session before participating in group rides, and must read and adhere to the “Balance Bike Bible”.


Run Squad

This is our weekly coached run session.

When: Wednesday morning @ 5:45am.

Location: King George Oval, Leichhardt.
Cost: Free.
Equipment: Running shoes and comfortable running clothes
Skill Level: The running sessions cater for all abilities


Social Swim

Self guided social swim, followed by a coffee.

When: Friday morning from 6am, with coffee at 7.15am.

Location: Leichhardt Aquatic Centre (LPAC).
Cost: Pool entry to be paid at the front counter on arrival
Equipment: Googles and a cossie at a minimum.
Skill Level: There is no skill requirement as this is a self guided and self paced social swim.


Group Long Rides

On weekends the club members organize long rides, usually based around four primary routes around Sydney.

When: Saturday (and occasionally) Sunday) mornings @ 5:45am (time may vary).

Location: We operate a 4 week rolling schedule of; The Gorges (Turramurra), Akuna Bay/West Head, Eastern Beaches and Sutherland (Bald Hill/National Park). Rides are posted in our Facebook and Strava groups.
Equipment: Bike in good working order, helmet, front and rear lights, spares and repairs kit, adequate nutrition and hydration for the ride distance.
Skill Level: All abilities; most are no-drop rides.
